The Death & Dementia Journal A record of strange deaths & the unexplained 2026/07/14

Privacy

Death & Dementia is a reading publication, not a data operation. This page explains, in plain language, what happens — and mostly what does not happen — when you visit.

The short version

This site does not sell advertising, does not run third-party ad networks, and does not build profiles of its readers. It sets no advertising or tracking cookies. You can read every article, open every drawer of the Cabinet, and leave again without handing over a name, an email address, or a login.

Analytics

To understand which stories readers find worthwhile, the site uses privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics. This kind of measurement records aggregate signals — which pages were viewed, roughly where in the world traffic came from, and which links were followed — without storing cookies on your device and without collecting information that identifies you personally. No cross-site tracking takes place, and no data is shared with advertisers or sold to anyone.

What the server sees

Like every website, the server that delivers these pages keeps standard technical logs for security and reliability — the type of request, the time it was made, and a truncated technical fingerprint of the connection. These logs are used only to keep the site running and to defend it against abuse, and they are not used to identify individual readers.

Links to other places

Articles frequently cite museums, archives, academic sources, and news reporting. Once you follow a link away from this site, you are subject to the privacy practices of wherever you land. Those practices are outside this publication’s control, and a citation is not an endorsement of another site’s data handling.

Children

Given its subject matter, Death & Dementia is written for an adult readership and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of sixteen.

Changes to this notice

If the site’s practices change, this page will be updated to match. The sensibility, however, will not: the aim is to be read, not to be mined.
